Sweetlife session guide

Questions are welcome before you book.

From newborn timing to siblings, feeding breaks and retouching, here are the practical details families most often ask about.

Ask your own question
01When should I enquire about a newborn session?

You can enquire once you know your due date so we can discuss availability. If your baby has already arrived, please still get in touch. We regularly photograph babies beyond the earliest newborn stage.

02Does my baby need to be under two weeks old?

No. The first two weeks can suit very sleepy portraits, but they are not a deadline. Older newborns are welcome, and we plan the photographs around your baby’s age, movement and expressions.

03Do you offer sessions on weekends?

Yes. Weekend sessions are available at no extra charge, subject to current availability.

04Can parents or siblings join the session?

Family or sibling photographs are included in selected packages. Please tell us who will attend when you enquire so we can help you choose the right collection.

05How many people can come to the studio?

The studio is designed for baby and family sessions rather than large groups. Usually up to two accompanying adults is comfortable. Please ask us first if you are planning to bring more people.

06What should siblings wear?

Simple outfits in similar colours usually photograph well together. Studio wardrobe sizes are limited, so please bring a suitable outfit for each sibling.

07Can we bring food and drinks?

Yes. You are welcome to bring simple snacks and drinks, especially for siblings. Please choose items that will not mark clothing, props or the studio.

08Can I feed or change my baby during the session?

Of course. Feeding, changing and settling breaks are part of working with babies. We can pause whenever your baby needs time.

09What if my baby cries or is unwell?

Crying does not mean the session has failed. We can pause for feeding, changing and settling. If your baby is unwell on the day, contact us so we can discuss rescheduling.

10Can we choose poses, props or colours?

We discuss preferred colours and ideas before the session. You are welcome to share reference photographs, and we will explain what can be adapted for your baby and chosen package.

11How much retouching is included?

We use natural retouching for skin and small distractions. More extensive requests can take additional time and may have an extra fee, which we will discuss before proceeding.

12What happens if we are late?

Please allow enough travel time to arrive calmly. A late arrival can shorten the available photography time, particularly when another family is booked later that day.

13How do the booking deposit and payment work?

We take a $50 deposit to secure your session and apply it to your chosen package. The remaining balance is payable after the session by bank transfer or cash. Payment plans may be available by prior arrangement.

14What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. With 24 hours’ notice, we can refund your deposit or transfer it to a new date. The deposit is normally retained for a cancellation within 24 hours or a missed appointment. Changes related to your baby’s arrival, illness, health or recovery are handled more flexibly—contact us as soon as possible and we will move your deposit to a suitable new date without a rescheduling fee.
