Three to ten weeks and beyond

Older Newborn Photography Brisbane

Your baby has not missed the chance to be photographed just because the first two weeks have passed.

Awake older baby photographed in the Sweetlife studio

Sweetlife welcomes older newborns at its North Lakes studio. Whether your baby is three, six, eight or ten weeks old, we adapt the session to their sleep, movement, eye contact and comfort instead of trying to recreate a two-week-old session.

Different age, different strengths

Beautiful newborn photographs are still possible after two weeks.

At three to four weeks, a session may still include sleepy details and wrapping. At five to six weeks, awake expressions and eye contact may become a larger part of the gallery. From seven to ten weeks, we often focus more on expressions, parent connection and comfortable, age-appropriate positions. Every baby develops differently, so these are guides rather than promised results.

We do not promise a specific pose or that a baby will sleep. Instead, we build a varied set around what your baby can comfortably do on the day.

How the session changes with age

3–4 weeks

A blend of sleepy details, wrapping and natural awake moments, with more time allowed for settling.

5–6 weeks

Expressions and eye contact often join the classic newborn details. Parent photographs can work especially well.

7–10 weeks

The session can focus on expressions, connection, comfortable support and age-appropriate positions rather than early-newborn poses.

Your baby’s comfort guides the session

We allow time for feeding, settling and awake moments. Your baby does not need to sleep or hold a particular pose for us to create a varied gallery.

Older newborn photography questions

Is six weeks too late for newborn photographs?

No. Six-week-old babies can be photographed with a session adapted for awake expressions, wrapping, comfortable positions and parent-supported photographs.

Can you photograph an eight or ten-week-old baby?

Yes. The result may look different from an early sleepy-newborn gallery, but expressive baby and family photographs are still possible.

Does my baby have to sleep?

No. Sleep is not a requirement for a successful session. We work with the baby’s alert periods, feeding and comfort.

Are weekend sessions available?

Yes. Weekend sessions are available at no extra charge. Please enquire about available dates.
